sunday sort of light - saturday!

hello weekend,
i'm so glad you're here.
i've been waiting all week
for you.

i'm not terribly pleased
that your weather of choice is rain
but it's ok, i can forgive it
on account of the leaves.

i like that they litter the ground now.
i like that they
rest
precariously there
some on the tips of grass
others on the
cement of the street.

i like that too,
they sit
beside puddles along the sides of walkways
and between pebbles
in the centre of others.

i like how they totter
unsteady on the edges of benches
and how they flutter
past the patina of enormousness brass statues.
the kind you see when walking
through the park in daylight hours.

i like that on some trees
they turn yellow
and others red.
but, i like even more
that some choose to go pink.

their leaves the brightest shade.
a carefree, childlike kind of fushia.
like the woven flowers on a skirt of a women
twirling in a city square
in guadalajara.

of a lady who dances
along the cobblestones on sundays.
her hands intertwined in her partners.
her nails perhaps a shiny red.
her worn black heels tapping to the music
her wavy black hair reflecting the afternoon sun,
her body throwing
her skirt far into the warm air.
the music
of a three piece band
playing nearby.

i like that the maple leaves rest on their stems still,
their branches i know
soon to yield to the the inevitability of the season.
and their leaves like the others
to fall to the ground
on a day like tomorrow.

happy saturday friends.
i hope it's great.
xox, n.
