new in my shop: small salt spoons!

hey, hey.
sorry i haven't been around much this week.
been busy doing girly kind of stuff with s.
(yup, that's her in the photos)


we've been eating ice cream,
drinking wine on patios
shopping in the sunshine
watching movies
and talking a good lot of girl talk.
good times indeed.


anyway though,
wanted to tell you,
there is something new
and well a little exciting in my shop this week




small salt spoons.



oh they are so cute.
and the finishes, so beautiful.

you, me and pie makes three

hi, happy late monday/early tuesday.

i've so been loving summer kinds of food this past while.
on the weekend i made three small strawberry & rhubarb pies.
i covered then in egg wash and coarse sugar.
and i cut small shapes from their crusts.
they weren't the cutest pies ever.
but tasty just the same.


once out of the oven & cooled just slightly
i packed them up & j and i
took them to tom's dairy freeze for a soft serve topper.
it was perfect.
warm pie, cold creamy ice cream, plastic spoons.
yum. such fun.



tonight after work, the other j (the apple girl)
dropped by with craft burgers & cherry pop. (a welcome surprise)
also, yum. we chattered about our days, and about boys.
and she was on her way. it was great.



afterward i went to airport
i picked up one of my oldest & most cherished friends, s.
she's come here for a mini vacation
and is staying with me a while.
hooray!
at this moment,
we're sipping bubbly drinks
& eating peanut m&m's.

it's pretty darn good.
i've really missed her.
i'm feeling pretty happy for summer,
for friends
and for the small joys of life these days.

saturday shots.

hi. happy saturday.
how are you?
how's the weekend so far?
i still have the cake photos i promised back on tuesday.
but i'll show you those tomorrow or the next day.
for now, i'm off to the farmer's market.
so i leave with some goodbye cupcakes i made yesterday
and some saturday shots from the last while.



oh and on a another note,


if i could be anywhere today, anywhere at all.
i think i'd like to be looking up into the grandeur of the
natural history museum in london.
you know it was built way back in 1880.
amazing.

the audio book i'm listening to at the moment
has me romanticizing about it again.
the author speaks so fondling of the rooms there,
of that area in south kennsington
of his numerous research trips to the museum.


about the fossils and the rocks.
and about the old wooden showcases
and the back rooms.
and about the beginning of time.


i think it must be one of my very favorite buildings ever.
plus, there's a laduree not too far away.
another reason i love it so much.

sunday sort of light - ice cream!

hi, hi.

happy tuesday.


no big news so far this week,
but i do almost have a new little cake to show you.
perhaps tomorrow, i'm just finishing it off now.
the colors are nice, i think you might like them.
think peach sorbet, cantaloupe grosgrain and grapefruit sherbet.

on meeting internet friends.

my thoughts on meeting internet friends: excellent.

i say that because today i met celine.
we've been online friends we think for a year or so now,
so thought it was due time we actually met.




we ate fancy grilled cheeses
i had rye and she wholewheat
we munched leafy spinach salad with shredded carrots.
and i dipped my sandwich in tasty house dressing.



we chattered away like birds in the park.
and it was really fun.



we brought each other small gifts.
i took cookies i had made
ones shaped like rain drops & ice cream cones.
plus a cute bottle of water
made from clouds & fresh fruit.



she brought me worn ocean glass from pei, (love)
a mini terrarium complete with a tiny white mushroom,
and a tomato plant she grew from seed.
and it was really great.



and it got me to thinking,
as i am sure you have thought
and likely even said,
that is that
the blog world,
the flickr community,
and the internet in general
is a pretty amazing place.




anyway, have to run
but, happy weekend trails friends.
oh, and photos of my little treats from celine tomorrow.

you know when you just know something

i had that feeling today, all day.
i know, i know, i'm always telling you that.



but really it's true and lately i've been overcome by it.
overcome by the feeling that
i'm on the brink of something really really great.




maybe it's just the long days of summer.
the time spent with friends.
the summer swims in lakes.

maybe it's brunch on sundays
drinks on thursdays
or that i can wear cotton dresses most everyday.




whatever it is, i'm not really sure.
but, it's good just the same. and i hope it never goes away.




you know just today,
i saw a small boy riding his bike, streamers whizzing.
i ate a delicious bowl of cherries
they gave me purple fingers.



i had a surprise flower delivery to work
i saw a momma bird feed her growing babies.
i had a nice dinner with a friend
and i felt happy for the long summer nights.


and then it came to me.


maybe the feeling
the feeling that something good was on the way, wasn't that at all.
maybe instead that feeling i'm always talking about
is more simple than that.


maybe it's just the feeling of happiness.
and the feeling that for the first time really,
the world is truly at my fingertips.



i hope it's the same for you
and i hope your day was great.
