on salt air and messy hair.

hello!
a quick hello and thoughts on the sea.

////\///

i've been missing the ocean
something terrible these days.
the shiny blue
and bubbly white.
the sandy shores
and worn hillsides.
the bendy trees and dark coloured rocks.

and that feeling that comes, when you stare out over it all.

i'd like to dip my feet in the cold ocean water
and peer in tide pools along the shore.
i'd like my hair to mess, from blowing salt air
and i'd like the waves to catch on the bottoms of my jeans.

i'd like to dig for clams when the tide is far out
and i'd like to eat smores when the night turns cold.

i'd like to wear a wool sweater,
that's worn and old.
and i'd like to slip into shoes, meant just for the sea.

i'd like to hop in the car and drive down the coast.

i'd like to stop in cities and towns
and places unknown.
and i'd like to buy fresh walnuts
from a man with a stand.

i'd like to see the skittle of sandpipers
and the swoop,
of ocean birds.

i'd like to go where the air is blowy
and where there's fishing poles leaned up against the walls.
i'd like mid morning vistas and cups of warm of tea.

i'd like my hair to be messy and dirty with salt.
and i'd like to take breakfast with views of the sea.

what do you think, do you want to come?
hope your week is swell,
and you're nearer to the sea than me.

xox, n.

Yes! I want to come. I miss the sea so much right now. I go through phases where it feels so wrong being far away from it.

I am so in love with the ocean - I miss it so much. This post fills me with hopes of a road trip to the coast real soon. In the meantime -and I recommend you try this - Green Island Studios coastal art fills my yearning and sea-themed desires - I bought a set of 4 last year and they hang together like a window to the sea, right here in Austin Texas

about three weeks ago, my sister, a friend and i took a lovely little day trip to the beach on a cold day. as we got closer, the skies turned to blue and it was a perfect day. we drove only country roads and stopped at many thrift stores along the way.

I think it was days like those that prompted us to move to Nova Scotia.

I love your blog. It's like a warm summer breeze that blows through my day or the inviting smell of baked goods lingering in the house. It's always a welcome distraction from regular life.

Yes, I am also missing the ocean like crazy! And road trips, seeing new vistas and driving along the ocean is one of my very favorite things. You reminded me of some things I need to make sure are in my life more than just once a year or once every other year. It is part of what makes my soul thrive.
I feel so grateful that I found your blog. It is one of my favorite blogs.
Thank you for sharing and writing and downloading such amazing pictures!
